RESEARCH:: Digitalizing Mobility
Advances in mobile technologies, such as smartphones and similar devices, enable direct delivery of high quality, spatially and temporally dynamic information to and among users, operators and planners of urban systems. To begin to understand the practical applications and effects of these advances, I have been involved in projects:
- Developing smartphone-based data collection technologies for mobility surveys, urban system mapping, and user feedback on mobility experiences and for behavior change;
- Designing ways to measure the effects of real-time information on urban transportation system users;
- Exploring ways that digital data sources, such as from GTFS feeds, can be integrated into interactive tools for improved citizen engagement in mobility planning.
